Sierra Moms Bunko Bash benefits community
Folsom, Calif., Thursday, March 19, 2009—Sierra Moms recent 8th Annual Bunko Bash was a huge success despite the down economy. For two hours nearly 140 participants from the community played non-stop bunko for a great cause at the Folsom Community Center. This year’s Bunko Bash will donate 20 percent of all proceeds to benefit Twin Lakes Food Bank and Simple Heroes. Sierra Moms raised more than $5000 the night of the event alone. Pre-tickets sales and cash donations will boost this number. La fiesta included buffet dinner and desserts, bunko play, silent auction, grand prize raffle, chance raffles, and more. The highest bid for an auction item was a donation from Charm Photography. A live auction winner took home the popular Police Party Package and one lucky raffle winner received a Disneyland Package including four admission tickets. Jennifer Steele of "Mix 96" - 96.1 FM, CBS Radio, Sacramento MCed the event with Sierra Moms President Karen Reid. “This was a challenging year to do a fundraising event for a number of reasons. Ticket sales and donations were both down in reaction to the poor economy while costs rose or remained the same,” said Reid. “In the end it was the dedication and action of members of Sierra Moms that made this event a success.” Thank you to all our sponsors: Jennifer Steele, La Fiesta, Bella Bru, Byecroft Road Vineyards, and the volunteers of Sierra Moms.
