Slimy blobs and cute little buttons are the topic as Placer Nature Center kicks off the annual Friday Lecture Series on Friday, September 3rd at 7:30PM with Fabulous Fungus – the fact, fiction and folklore!
Did you know that the largest organism on earth is a mushroom? Dr. Michael Davis of the UC Davis Department of Plant Pathology will discuss fascinating facts about mushrooms and how they are an important part of a healthy ecosystem. Focus will be on California species and especially those found in Placer County and surrounding areas, including the mushrooms of coastal forests, the Sierra Nevada, deserts, and urban areas.
Come early for complimentary local produce samples from Foothill Farmer’s Market growers and stay late for Q&A, raffle and personal introductions with the speaker!
This lecture series is made possible by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Waste Connections, Inc., Gold Country Media, FMGraphics, 49er Printing & Copy Center, Foothill Farmer’s Market, Unity of Auburn, and Auburn Placer Performing Arts. Organized and produced by Placer Nature Center and Roseville Utility Exploration Center. For more information and tickets, please visit: http://www.placernaturecenter.org/lectures/
