Protest Outside CalISO
Approximately a dozen union members arrived to stand outside the entrance to Cal ISO with a banner that read, “Cal ISO…Hurt workers, hurt families, and hurt our community.” Protestors handed out flyers as they stated to passerby’s they are unable to speak about the matter, but the flyer contains all necessary information of who you may contact for more information.
According to Carpenters Local Union 46 members, the protest is about Cal ISO hiring Miles Treaster and Associates to install their furniture fixtures and have not required them to pay area standard wages and benefits already established by the carpenters in this area. The union does not like the fact Cal ISO hired a company outside the local union to complete the work and the union believes Cal ISO does not care to support local workers and union members.
According to one member who did not wish to provide her name, “We will be out here today to inform the community. Any more information you will need to call the number on the flyer.”
Protestors are not employees of Cal ISO but rather members of the Carpenters Local Union 46.
